TakilQuip Champions’ Cup 15 was held between 2009-07-10 and 2009-07-15, and involved eighty-one teams from thirty-two associations. In an all-Septentrionian final, CS Lac-Amédée defeated CS Sept-Onze Ourseville 2–1 for its second Champions’ Cup title and Sept-Onze’s second final defeat.

Final site

Arena América in Abadia, Cafundéu was selected as the site of the final.

Format

League coëfficients

The entry system remained the same as the previous tournament:

Associations ranked 1–6 are allowed to enter four teams.
Associations ranked 7–16 are allowed to enter three teams.
Associations ranked 17 and below, and unranked associations, are allowed to enter two teams.

As always, higher-ranked associations were granted greater access to the later stages of the tournament. Only Section I associations (those ranked 1–12) were allowed to enter teams directly into the group stage.

Group stage

The ten winners from the preliminary stage, along with the twenty-two automatic qualifiers, were drawn into eight groups of four for the group stage. Each team played the others in its group twice (home and away). The top two teams in each group advanced to the knockout phase, while the team finishing third in each group entered the first knockout round of Globe Cup 12.

Tie-breaking criteria

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:

higher number of wins,
higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question,
superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question,
higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question,
higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question,
superior goal difference from all group matches played,
higher number of goals scored,
higher number of goals scored away from home,
higher number of coëfficient points accumulated by the club in question, as well as its association, in the previous five seasons.

Knockout phase

The eight group winners were pitted against the group runners-up in the first round of a four-round knockout phase. Teams from the same association were not allowed to meet in the first round, but were from the quarterfinals onward. The first three rounds were held as home-and-away ties, but the final was played as a single match, with extra time and penalty kicks used in the event of a draw.
