The Socialistische Partij (English: Socialist Party) is a minor political party in Knootoss. It is a perpetual opposition party, which seeks to cooperate as much as possible with the other socialist and social democratic parties of Knootoss. It would eventually like to see a united socialist front that also includes the Anticapitalist Party and the Knootian Social Democratic Party. During elections for the Grand Pensionary or the Prime Minister of Knootoss, it will either field its own candidate or support a sufficiently left-wing candidate from the Knootian Green Party.
Issues
The party platform endorses "Democratic Socialism". The socialists want to nationalise all industries and implement tighter labour regulations. It favours a strongly progressive system of taxation, including a 99% tax on the "super wealthy". The party wants to give people a 'right to work', which is to be realised through extensive government programmes and protectionist trade policies. Regardless, it feels that every Knootian citizen has the right to a living wage. Socially, the party tends to favour heavy-handed state intervention to secure "social rights" and "group rights". The party is anti-war and tentatively in favour of World Assembly membership. It has been highly critical of Knootian votes in the World Assembly, and admires the efforts of Glen-Rhodes to create a World government.
