The Second League (aka. Tweede Verbond) is the second highest league in Achtervolging.

The League comprises 16 teams that play each other twice, once home and once away, for a total of 30 games per season. The Second League promotes directly to the Elite League and relegates to the National League.

Promotion and Relegation

The Champions and Runners-Up for the Second League are automatically promoted to the Elite League, with the 14th placed club from the Elite League goes to separate promotion/relegation playoffs versus teams place 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the Second League. The 4 teams are randomly drawn into a two-leg semi-final playoff, with the winners of these facing off in a neutral-site championship game, the winner gaining the final Elite League position.

The bottom 3 teams in the Second League (14th - 16th place) are automatically relegated, and the Champion in each of the National Division are automatically promoted. Teams placed 2nd and 3rd in the National Leagues participate in a randomly drawn playoff with the winner getting the final place in the Second League.

• The League Cup, a competition for the top three Leagues
• And the Authority Open Cup, which is open for challenge by all senior men's teams in the country
