The Populaire Partij (English: Popular Party) is a minor political party in Knootoss. It is a perpetual opposition party that often finds itself courted by the Knootian Social Democratic Party. While the left-wing programme of the party has a lot in common with the social democratic platform, it usually labels itself as either liberal or libertarian. It tends to support LGBT candidates during elections for the Grand Pensionary or the Prime Minister of Knootoss.

Issues

The party lacks a consistent platform, and usually campaigns around issues close to the hearts of Knootians: LGBT rights, secularism and left-wing populist economic themes. As a result, it draws a considerable share of the gay vote. The success of the party depends heavily on the charisma of the leader. The party has been known to pick popular sports figures, KNN television personalities and actors to represent it in parliament.
