Pope John Paul III
The Venerable Pope John Paul III (latin: Ioannes Paulus III, italian: Giovanni Paolo III, Quenya: Yoannes Paulus III, born Nobu Adin Grimaldi on 3 December 1930) is the 268th and current pope by virtue of his office of Bishop of Rome, the head of the Thrinian Catholic Church and Sovereign of the Vatican City State. He was elected on 11 October 2010 in a papal conclave, celebrated his Papal Inauguration Mass and received a papal coronation the day thereafter on 12 October 2010, and took possession of his cathedral, the Basilica of The Papal City, on 23 Decemer 2010. A native of the Quendi, Pope John Paul III has both Quendi and Vatican citizenship. He succeeded Innocent XIV, the first Thrinian pope.
Born in a small coastal town in the Province of Shanti-Aglarond in the souther parts of the lands of the Quendi pope John Paul III is the first pope in many years who where not born a christian. Up until his thirtieth year Nobu Grimaldi lived as a heathen with a wife and a daughter. In 1959 his wife however fell ill and died. This caused great spiritual confusion in the young man who eventually stumbled accros a catholic hermit in the Shanti Forrest. The hermit soon converted Grimaldi to christianity in the old form it was practised in the realm of the Quendi. In 1963 Nobu was ordained as a priest and became a popular teacher of christianity. In 1965 the rich quendi christian Imbala family entrusted Grimaldi with teaching their son Laekan Imbala. With the support of the Imbala family Grimaldi was soon elevated to bishop of the small diocese of Khiios.
Knowing that his call was to teach Grimaldi however resigned as bishop in 1968 and became a professor in theology at the prestigous Darche University. Professor Grimaldi soon became very popular with his students many of which would later influence the government of the Quendi to adopt a more tolerant policy towards christianity in general and catholicism in specific. Among his most influential students are his daughter Isolde Grimaldi and the two patriarchs Eliah Cardinal Suurmas and Laekan Cardinal Imbala. In 1997 as Suurmas and Imbala struggled over leadership of the Eastern Catholic Church of the Quendi Grimaldi was, much to his own dismay, appointed as archbishop of Jerusalem in the newly established Quendi Colony of Greater Israstine and as cardinal of the Catholic Church. After Suurmas gained power and became patriarch of Pristina he chose to reunite the Eastern Catholic Church of the Quendi with Rome. This caused Grimaldi and Imbala to found their own Reformed Catholic Church of the Quendi and seek a union with Thrinia and the antipope Innocent XIV.
In 2010 following the resignation of Innocent XIV as pope Cardinal Grimaldi and Cardinal Imbala travelled to the first papal conclave ever held by the Thrinian Catholic Church. Much to his surprise the conclave chose to elect Nobu Cardinal Grimaldi to the second pope of Thrinia and the 268th of christendom. After chosing the name John Paul III in honor of John Paul II who, like Grimaldi, was an unlikely candidate for the papacy, the pope chose to have a papal coronation to create a feeling of unity and greatness in the troubled and persecuted thrinian world. Following his coronation the pope summoned the First Council of Jerusalem with the ambitious goal to craft a unified thrinian faith. The ongoing council has seen the attendence of clerics from around the world to discuss the many matters facing the faith.
Unlike so many of his predecessors pope John Paul III has proven himself a very liberal pope with many of his teachings being seen as controversial by more conservate elements in the church. While conservaties praise the pope for his strict opposition to abortion his stances on female clergy, prevention, euthanasia and phedophilia within the church had been welcomed by more liberal clerics and by the general christian layity. As such the pope is widely popular among the layity whereas the clergy is more reluctant in their praise. Pope John Paul III is probarbly best known for his very open and inclussive way of leading the church as well as his love for ecumenism. Very rarely has the pope used his authority as vicar of Christ to bring the clergy to order as he considers a free debate of issues to be of great importance to strengthen the faith. Among the denominations that has experienced the pope's openness towards ecumenism is both protestants and orthodox churches as well as muslims and jews.
Pope John Paul is the founder and patron of the Grimaldi Foundation, a charitable organisation, which makes money from the sale of his books and essays in order to fund scholarships and bursaries for students across the world. The foundation is lead by Isolde Grimaldi.

Early life
Childhood
In 1420, same year as Nobu's only sibling, sister Leto Marianna Grimaldi was born the kingdom of Cael'thas fell to pressure from the city state of Charn and the power of the Imperial House of Alcedina. The former kingdom became a part of the last empire, the Spring Monarchy under High King Aron Alcedina the Elder. Ida Grimaldi, a staunch supporter of the new rule, brought the entire family to Charn to celebrate Winter solstice. The visit to the capital made a lasting impression on the child. While he celebrated the hope of a new nation he also became aware of that while the magnificent Borremeo Palace was lightened by fireworks and thousands of candles shining on silk clothing and precious jewelry the people of the city was deeply impooverished. Later as pope Nobu Grimaldi would astrive to live in pooverty himself while taking a great interest in the poor.
Youth
After ended primary and high school having lived a rather normal life the then eighteen year old Nobu Grimaldi in 1433 applied to become a law student at the prestigous Darche University. Grimaldi, a top grade student, was accepted and in mid 1433 he began his studies. In early 1434 he meet Eden Mysetis, a female medicine student and the two started a relationship.
The happiness was however short. In 1435 Grimaldi was drafted into the army. As a pacifist he refused to fight in the colonial war against pandesillan rebels and as such faced charges of treason. By the mediation of his father, now a court of justice, Nobu was however spared execution and was instead ordered to fly a medical helicopter. Near the end of the war his helicopter was shoot down in the pandesillan jungle where a group of wounded quendi soldier's had awaited his help. Grimaldi proved ressourceful and avoided captivation by the rebels and, risking his own life in the process, managed to save the wounded legionaires. He was awarded the Order of the Northern Star of the Quendi at the rank of esquire for his bravery.
In 1437 he resumed his education at Darche, and his relationship with Eden. He graduated in 1439 summa cum laude and was offered a job at a prominent law firm in a suburb to Pristina. He declined the offer and instead sought the far lesser paid and less prestigous job as a public defender in the district court of Talen.
