The Parties

Yelizaveta Party

The Yelizaveta Party is known for its moderation in terms of conversative capitalism and liberal democratic socialism. It is a centrist party, but does have some centre-right and centre-left members, but the majority are centrists. Yelizavetans strongly promote the arts, science, and education, as well as support furthering positive diplomatic relations with other nations. The Yelizaveta Party is also a strong promoter of advancements in the military, believing that Vulshain should be a protector and defender, not a conqueror and aggressor.

Konstantin Party

The Konstantin Party is very similar to that of the Yelizaveta Party, but favors capitalism a bit more than socialism. Like the Yelizavetans, the Konstantins support strengthening the armed forces and protecting the rights of the people. In terms of right and left, the Konstantin Party is more of a centre and centre-right wing party as it supports democratic capitalism, the market economy, limited forms of government regulation, private property rights, and opposes communism. However, the Konstantin Party does not oppose socialism completely, admitting that some socialistic ideas can actually be beneficial if implemented correctly and carefully. In addition, the Konstantin Party believes in individual rights, and has supported gay rights. The Konstantin Party is the biggest advocate of restoring the two-house system of parliament that existed prior to the rise to power of Merrill Rivers. The Konstantin and Yelizaveta Parties hold the most seats in the Royal Congress of Vulshain as well as holding a majority of governorships.

Iziaslav Party

The Iziaslav Party is a democratic liberal party and shares many similar ideas and policies with those of the Green Party of Kelssek and the United Communist Party of Kelssek. The Iziaslavites also advocate that the various Confederate Provinces of Vulshain have the right to make their own laws without interference from the central government. While opposed to increases in the military, the Iziaslav Party does support alliances and treaties with other nations. The Iziaslav Party is considered centre-left, and is the third largest party in the Royal Congress.

Federalist Party

The Federalist Party shares many of the same ideals and beliefs as those in the Kelssekian Conservative Party and the Bai Lung Conservative Party, such as outlawing abortion and repealing the legalization of same-sex marriage. Federalists are considered to be very right-wing. The Federalists should not be confused with the Vulshainian Conservative Party, although both are right-wing parties. Federalists, in terms of defense, strongly believe in the doctrine of preemptive war, wars to disarm and destroy potential military foes based on speculation of future attacks rather than in defense against actual attack. The Federalists also are not very strong supporters of environmental protection acts. In addition, the Federalists believe in making the Monarch into a mere figurehead, believing that the monarch has no right to interfere with the policies of the country and instead should serve as an important symbol of Vulshain. This idea is strongly opposed by the Konstantins and Yelizavetans, as well as a vast majority of the Iziaslav Party. The Federalists also strongly oppose both socialism and communism. Many Federalists are strong supporters of Department of Internal and External Intelligence and Security (DIEIS), Vulshain’s civilian security and intelligence-gathering agency, and many were against the DIEIS Reforms advocated by King Samuil Rainard in regards to accounts of corruption by DIEIS agents. While admitting that DIEIS has a ‘few bad apples’ in it, Federalists argue, saying that DIEIS has nonetheless protected Vulshain from enemies who would work from the shadows.

Green Party

The Green Party is very similar to that of the Green Party of Kelssek and the Bai Lung Green Party. It is supports the passing of tough environmental regulations and the establishment of "green taxes" on pollution, as well as the introduction of city density and fuel efficiency mandates. The Green Thumbs, as members of the party are called, also support equal opportunity acts and laws. They are strong supporters in the elimination of the death penalty.

Socialist Labor Party

The Socialist Labor Party is a left-wing party and shares many characteristics of those found in the Bai Lung Democratic Party, such as the avocation of social liberalism. However, the Socialist Labor Party is strongly entrenched in Trotskyism. They are staunch defenders of workers’ rights and the strict regulation of businesses and corporations, as well as the creation of a socialist state.

Communism United Party

The Communism United Party is very similar to the Vekaiyun Communist Party, the Bai Lung Marxist Party, and the United Communist Party of Kelssek, advocating the transformation of Vulshain into a communist nation. They were strongly against the alliance with Southern Yugoslavia, mainly because of Vulshain’s western neighbor’s dislike towards communism. The Communism United Party advocates nationalizing all industries, abolishing of maximum and minimum wages, and the creation of a committee-based government. This party is considered a far-left party and many United-Communists are strong believers in Marxism, especially Leninism.

Conservative Party

Although sharing the same beliefs as the Federalist Party, the Conservative Party does have a few different and radical ideas that are not shared by both parties. One of them, and the most unpopular, is the removal of the monarch and the establishment of a presidential system. Many of the Conservatives have been accused by critics as supporting the ideals and beliefs practiced by the Republican Regime during the reign of Merrill Rivers. However, the Conservatives counter that they do not advocate racism of any kind, although the Conservative Party is made up entirely of humans.
