The Terran Empire is made up of 27 planets in 4 clusters throughout the galaxy. The majority (23 planets) lie on the edge of the Perseus Arm, approximately 16,000 Light Years from Sol. Note: Each star and primary planet are given the same name as the system itself. Though sometimes confusing to outsiders, the three are differentiated by referring to each in a distinct way. For example, one would have the Andreni System, which contains the star Andreni Prime (more commonly referred to as the Sun by locals) around which orbits Andreni, the planet.

[edit] Local Cluster

of the Local Cluster
The Local Cluster is where the vast majority of North Mack planets lie. Centered (for the most part) around Helmrakai, the Terran Empire expanded in all directions from its homeworld. The Local Cluster is interconnected between nearly all the contained planets, allowing vast trade networks to strengthen the economy.

[edit] Helmrakai

Helmrakai has the distinction of being the Largest, the Most Populated, and the Oldest planet of the Terran Empire. The Homeworld of North Mack, Helmrakai currently contains 12.6 Billion residents. Although recent questions have arisen as to the sustainability of such a large population, the problem is eased by the fact that the planet is much larger then Earth, but much less dense. This results in a total gravity of 1.3 Earth normal, making Mack citizens appear physically stronger and heartier when in normal earth gravity.

Most of Helmrakai's resources are imported from other planets within the empire, such as Tierr, the agricultural planet, where 50% of all food produced there is shipped directly to Helmrakai. This has led to very tangled airspace above the planet. The NMPNv3, or North Mack Planetary Navigator version 3, is a high level AI designed entirely for controlling and directing space traffic above the planet. Although many find it unsettling, it is illegal to have any ship (other then military class ships) on manual control within 1 Planetary Diameter of Helmrakai. The Planetary Navigator overrides and controls all ships around Helmrakai, so as to avoid collisions and ease navigation problems.

As for the physical aspects of Helmrakai, the planet itself is largely Earth-like, due to the terraforming of the original colonists. The surface area of the planet is largely covered with vast cities, both on land and on the water itself, as well as below the surface. The largest city on Helmrakai is Morakai, with a total of 143.6 Million citizens within the city limits. Morakai is also the planets largest underground network, with 12.6 million of that 143.6 Million living underground in a vast network of linked tunnels and complexes.

[edit] Andreni

One of the farther flung planets of the Local Cluster, Andreni sits at just over 1,000 LY from Helmrakai. Mostly water with poles larger then Earth, Andreni is not much more then a backwater colony. The majority of the population there resides on one small island chain on the equator of the western hemisphere. What little money the planet makes from trade is almost exclusively made by farming the vast amounts of fish that now inhabit the waters surrounding the island (the originals having been brought with the colonists).

[edit] Arcadus

An extremely unremarkable system, Arcadus is mostly a desert planet. With high temperatures and a toxic atmosphere, the citizens of Arcadus are forced to live underneath specially constructed domes to survive. In fact for the most part, the planet would be unacceptable as a colony except for its developed position as a jumping off point to Taross. The Jovian in the system also allows for refueling of Fleet and civilian ships in-system.

[edit] Cerberus Cluster

of the Cerberus Cluster
The Cerberus Cluster contains a single colonized planet, Taross. Settled as a trade point between North Mack and the Cerberus Alliance the Cerberus Cluster often is used as a diplomatic midway point. Unfortunately due to the relative distance from the Empire while still remaining close to civilization, the Cerberus Cluster is often used for quasi-legal dealings and hideouts.

[edit] Taross

Taross is the diplomatic midpoint between North Mack and The Cerberus Alliance. It maintains a bustling trade business on the planet, passing goods from Helmrakai to the Alliance and back. However the system itself is a constant struggle. As the system is distanced from the Local Cluster, yet remains on a large trade route, many smugglers and other ne'er-do-wells use the system as a home port. However, the 47th Expeditionary BattleGroup is permanently stationed in Taross to both defend this "gateway" to North Mack, and to maintain security for the diplomatic space station orbiting the star. The two factions are continually playing a game of cat and mouse, leading Taross to develop a less then desirable reputation.

Taross receives high doses of radiation from its parent star, meaning for the most part the planet is barren. All cities on Taross are constructed inside special domes to block the radiation, or underground / under water to combat this.

[edit] Northern Cluster

of the Northern Cluster
Discovered in 1032I.R. during a miscalculated jump, the Northern Cluster is one of the newer areas colonized by the Empire. It consists of three nearby systems, and functions as a miniature nation all of its own, with each of the three planets providing necessary materials for the other two. Locals of the Northern Cluster are often very prideful, referring to themselves as "Northerners"

[edit] Derossar

Though comprised mostly of water (much of which is frozen) and with a toxic atmosphere, Derossar quickly boomed thanks to its abundant mining sources in-system. Using mined materials and fuels, Derossar has become a mass of industries and factories constructed beneath the surface of the planetary ice. Utilized for maximum cooling, the vast amounts of frigid water ensure that the goods produced on Derossar are of high quality and quantity.

This is quite necessary too. Derossar is the chief manufacturing planet for the Northern Cluster. Jaromalr and Nalorri both depend on Derossar to manufacture and ship the vast majority of the components they need, be it for structures, vehicles, tools, or just about anything else. Derossar is also the unofficial "capital" of the Northern Cluster.

[edit] Jaromalr

The most Sol-like system of the Northern Cluster, Jaromalr produces much of the food for the rest of the cluster. Utilizing the vast amounts of land and excellent climate, the surface of Jaromalr is almost entirely covered with crops. Harvested by machines, the planet has relatively little human interaction or interference, minus the mechanics and general operators. A few spots of Jaromalr remain open and are marketed as tourist resorts, capitalizing on the Earth-like qualities of the planet.

[edit] Nalorri

Nalorri is the most populated and most traveled system in the Northern Cluster. Relatively Earth-like (at least in climate) Nalorri quickly became the business and services capital of the cluster. In fact, due to its location, Nalorri immediately became a hit tourist location, with all the amenities soon following. Gambling is huge in the system, with many entrepreneurs building or purchasing small stations and orbiting them around random planets as casinos or bars. Of the three systems in the cluster, the Nalorri System as a whole is easily the most profitable and developed of them.

[edit] Babylon Cluster

of the Babylon Cluster
Much like the Cerberus Cluster, the Babylon Cluster was settled because of its close proximity to the planet of Kepolek, under the control of the Babylon Commonwealth. The large mining industry there allows a small but profitable trade route to be set up between Kepolek and Turykash.

[edit] Turykash

Turykash was originally colonized to take advantage of the lucrative mining business in the nearby Babylon system. Trading materials from the system back to the Local Cluster, Turykash has been able to be quite profitable throughout its history. As an outlying system, the 27th Expeditionary BattleGroup is permanently stationed in in orbit around the planet.

In addition, Turykash is the most Galactic Coreward system under North Mack control. As such, it houses a fair portion of traffic from civilians heading coreward. This traffic is all routed through Galactic Station, a large orbiting facility with numerous docks, amenities, accommodations, and tourist attractions. It is also known to accommodate Marines and Fleet while on leave, as the Fleet operated Pallamer Station orbits around the second planet of the system.

Pallamer station is used by the Star Fleet as a training and operations port. Fleet recruits are often trained at this station due to its distance from most other systems. During wartime, Pallamer station is used as a rally point for all fleet vessels heading coreward, during which Tarykash and Galactic Station often announce record profits.
