PB-91 Patrol Boat
The PB-91 is a highly maneuverable, heavily armored, small double catamaran patrol/fast attack vessel. It is the successor to the PB-88 Phantom and as such has earned the unoffical nickname of "Double Phantom". Two small hulls support the main deck and weapons while two oversized outriggers give the PB-91 a seaworthiness rating of 4 (out of 5). Like the PB-88, the PB-91 has three 5 inch cannons mounted in a triple turret providing awesome firepower for a vessel of its size. The PB-91 is designed for destroying the pirates, corvettes and frigates and it has standard air defense capability. The PB-91 is armed with horizontal missile launching systems for small to medium sized anti-ship missiles as well as 2 VLS tubes which can carry 1 cruise missile each. Two torpedo tubes round out its anti-surface armament. It also features quad 40mm anti-aircraft guns which can also deal with small, fast moving water targets.( like terrorists in small speedboats). In additon, there are a pair of CIWS turrets on the outriggers and 12 SAM launchers on board. It is equipped with 4 Diesel-Electric Generators powering 4 Submersible Turbines and 2 bow thrusters.
Another version of the PB-91 with turret removed in favor of a helipad exists. This version has had its cruise missiles replaced with single arm missile launchers and ASROC and depth charge launchers have been added as well as a powerful sonar. This version is known as the PL-91 and serves as an ASW corvette.
