Omigodtheykilledkenny Diplomatic Service
The Omigodtheykilledkenny Diplomatic Service, under the auspices of the Department of State, consists of the ambassadors from Omigodtheykilledkenny (and their respective staffs) serving in over three dozen nations throughout the NationStates world. It is not to be confused with the Diplomatic Corps, which is the name given to the aggregate of foreign delegations stationed in Paradise City, from nations the Federal Republic recognizes diplomatically. A simpler way to put it would have been, "Ambassadors from Omigodtheykilledkenny are the Diplomatic Service; ambassadors to Omigodtheykilledkenny are the Diplomatic Corps," but that would have been too easy, now wouldn't it?
Currently there are about 30 ambassadors stationed abroad on commissions from the President of the Federal Republic, and about 30 foreign ambassadors serving in Paradise City. The senior-ranking ambassador in the Diplomatic Service is the ambassador at large, who is nominally the head of the Diplomatic Service. Though not ambassadors, other State Department officials obviously serve very important diplomatic roles, including the secretary of state, undersecretaries, and the department's so-called "hospitality czar," Michelle (just Michelle -- with a body like that, who needs a last name?), who acts as the diplomatic liaison between the department and individual delegations in the Diplomatic Corps. As the longest-serving ambassador to the Federal Republic, Elizabeth Cutler-Newington of Cobdenia is Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
Omigodtheykilledkenny no longer maintains a permanent ambassador to the World Assembly, because, while "cheesy reality show" is a cut above "defender alliance" or "gameplay region" as an international organization, the State Department nonetheless feels it does not warrant an official diplomatic presence.
