[edit] Early History (2003, 2004 - 25 April 2005)

  • The first known incarnation of Hyrule was founded by the nation of Parlement2 on 8 October 2003. The population of the region during this period mainly consisted of the founder and his puppets. By the end of 2003 or early 2004 Parlement2 (and his puppets) died out; Hyrule died out with him.
  • The region was founded again in 2004 by Kholint, who was joined by a few friends of his who were Zelda fans shortly after founding the region. A few days later, he was elected as the region's first UN delegate.
  • Some time after, the region sought an alliance with another region called Termina, as both Hyrule and that region were named after locations in the Zelda games. The outcome of this event is unknown.
  • Around June, Kholint was spammed by a group of nations; that group was soon reported and deleted. Kholint lost interest in the game after this incident and left soon afterwards. Tri-Hylians became the new delegate on 30 June 2004; he would hold the position of delegate (with a brief interruption) until 22 April 2005.
  • Hyrule's first regional forum was created in March of 2005 by Tri-Hylians. The forums were inactive for the first week of their existence, until Ness Snorlaxia created the first regional map. Ness also begun recruiting new nations to the region; her early efforts at recruitment increased the region's population from 19 nations to 40 in the span of a few weeks.
  • In the middle of April, Hyrule was contacted by The Snowflake of Allied Union of Nations asking for the establishment of diplomatic relations. This request was accepted soon after it was proposed, marking the beginning of Hyrule's foreign affairs programme.
  • A nation called The Spotted Dick, one of the new nations who would be influential in the development of Hyrule during its nascent stage of development, took the position of delegate from Tri-Hylians for a day. Once he found out he was delegate, he quickly stated that he had no interest in the position and asked nations to endorse Tri-Hylians, who became delegate again the following day.
  • On 23 April 2005, an invader called Marionettles from the now-defunct region of Cotham and Cakeland seized the delegacy with a little help from his friends. They invaded the region because Hyrule was a small but growing region which lacked a founder and had a delegate with few endorsements.
  • A few hours after becoming delegate, Marionettles ejected a few of the more influential natives an put a password on the region. The ejected natives hid in a region set up by The Snowflake.
  • One of the nations still in the region was able to telegram the password to Ness Snorlaxia, who then passed it on to Flake, who passed it on to a defender organisation. The defenders were able to enter the region around the game-wide update time on 24 April; they endorsed one of their own nations, Toodeloo, who became delegate after the update. Toodeloo remained delegate for a day whilst a quick one-day poll to determine who would be the new delegate was conducted. Ness Snorlaxia was elected delegate in this poll; she was endorsed by the natives and invaders, and became delegate on the 25th.

[edit] Reign of Ness Snorlaxia the Tyrant (25 April 2005 - 6 August 2006)

  • The first few weeks of Ness Snorlaxia's reign were fraught with some difficulty, most notably with an attempted invasion early in her term as delegate, which was quickly quashed.

After that attempt, no other invader groups invaded and the region was in relative peace with the world, again. During May, embassies were opened with the regions of Q102 and Aberdeen, our second and third at the time.

The major event of May 2005 was when the founder of the region, Kholint, was revived. Later in the day, he came back from Lazarus (and became the 80th nation in Hyrule at the time). However, he would be inactive and his nation would die out again sometime in the middle of July.

[edit] The Second Half

June was basically a "slump" month for Hyrule, as we entered a recession during the beginning and middle of the month. June was also a month for change, as the basis for the law of the region was established. That month was also when Hyrule became allied with Aberdeen and established foreign relations with Futaba Aoi. It also marked low voter turnout in UN resolutions.

By the end of the month, the regional recruitment drive was put into full force, and the massive amounts of recruiting boosted the region's population over 100 for the first time - another monumental event.

July was a better month for Hyrule, as the region saw a huge population and activity boost. The beginning of the month saw the region's population go up to a high of 140 nations (for the month) and the establisment of an embassy in Scroll Islands. The forum also became much more active than it had been before, averaging about 50 posts a day at this point. The other half of the month was pretty much the same, the region still was showing growth. Two major things happened, though: The first was that Kholint ceased to exist, again, due to inactivity. The second was the region's second alliance, with the region Futaba Aoi. The remainder of the month went well, with the opening of an embassy with the Allied States of EuroIslanders later in the month, and another massive recruitment drive pushing the region to the 190 mark, and a high voter turnout in UN resolutions.

During August, the population of the region increased by well over 100 nations. The region broke the 200 nations mark on August 1st, and broke the 300 nations mark on August 22. August 2 saw the 100th day of Ness Snorlaxia's tenure as Delegate. The fourms were active and voter turnout for UN resolutions was at a high point.

[edit] The Remainder of 2005

September was a prosperous month, much like August. Forums were active, the UN voter turnout was high, and the region grew. However, the region did not grow as fast as it did in August.

October saw a change of pace. On the fourth of October, new elections to replace the mostly inactive government (June 2005 to October 2005). Parts of the 2nd regional government (October 2005 to February 2006) were confirmed on 19 October.

The region also reached a high of 390 nations on 8 October, however it did not attain this amount for long and soon dropped below that amount. After about 15 October, however, the population started to go in a major decline, dropping down to 369 nations. The region remained in the 360 range until about a week later, when the region would drop to 359 nations. Hyrule remained in the 350 range for the rest of October and the beginning of November. Late in the month, Gnid resigned from the posistion of vice-Secretary of State due to a dispute with Buuyo, the Secretary of State.

November saw a boost of activity. Elections concluded, and the final regional cabinet consisted of Buuyo (Secretary of State), China3 (guard general) Kritschboilek (Grand Judge), Pacdude (vice-Minister of State, Gifts and Frendliness, and Affairs), and South Malaysia (Minister of Affairs). The region and cabinet were quite active after these elections, although by January of 2006, this would not be the case. An alliance with Scroll Islands was also finalized during the month.

Although the population continued to fall during December, the forums were quite active, and the nations who participated in the community were, for the most part, active.

[edit] 2006

At the beginning of 2006, Hyrule was one of the largest player-created regions in NationStates, and was quite different than it was a year earlier. 2006, however, would also see many changes within the region.

[edit] First Quarter

January and early February saw the same trends that continued in December - the population was falling, forum activity was increasing. Most of the members of the regional cabinet also left NationStates or became less active around this time.

At the beginning of February, the forums became more active. One major contributing factor to this was the Roleplaying forum - although it has existed since June of 2005, very few posts were made in it. Since then, the Roleplaying forum became one of the most active, if not THE most active section of the regional message board. This, and the cabinet inactivity, would necessitate the need to create a new regional cabinet.

Elections for the cabinet started on February 20th. Great interest was generated in these elections, as ministers would post on the Civil HQ in NationStates itself to encourage nations to vote. When elections concluded, the third Hyrule cabinet consisted of Flamaca (Minister of Roleplaying), Greater Mactopia (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Gnid (Chancellor), Kritschboilek (Judge), Porcu (Judge), South Malaysia (Chancellor of Justice), Southwest Prussia (Minister of Internal Affairs), and Tasmanyaya (Minister of Immigration).

Since the election of the cabinet, the region saw a huge activity boost never seen before. The region's population soared back to 360 nations, and 200 posts or more were being made on the forum per day (with help from the Minister of Immigration encouraging new nations to join, register, and post on the forum). Regional RP has seen an increase in quality, and many new nations began roleplaying. Also of note was the first regional court case (Hyrule v. FFC), which would eventually lead to that nation's ejection.
