Gwangju FC (Chinese: 廣州FC;Korean: 광주FC) is a professional football team of Daehanjeiguk. They began as Gwangdong FC, one of the strongest teams in the newly created National Football League. They were three-time champions of the Emperor's Cup before falling out of favor. Despite lacking the strength to retain a consistent position in the top flight of the IFL, Gwangju remains one of the more serious contenders in the IFL.

[edit] History
Gwangju FC began as one of 20 teams that formed the NFL, then named Gwangdong FC. In their inaugural season, they were 23rd of 24 teams, which seemed to be a sign of turning fortunes. The arrival of some new players in the Season 2 drafts, however, proved to be the turning point, where the club jumped a miraculous 19 points in the table, later winning the Emperor's Cup. They would go on to win the next three cups - an unmatched record at the moment. Unfortunately, they have failed to make any significant return to their glory days since then, although they have come close on a number of occasions. The club was also one among the first 20 clubs to join the Heavenly Division of the newly renovated Imperial Football League; they have never been relegated, although they have been less consistent in form.
