The Googleistic Democracy of Googlewoop is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The government concentrates mainly on commerce, although the environment and defence are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is roughly 10%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Googlewoop's national animal is the Googlewoop Slazenger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Google.
[edit] Etymology and Usage
The name Googlewoop originates from Ancient Googlish, the language used by tribes of the Googlewooper Plains circa 5000 BC until the rise and early expansion of the Empire. Googlish is thought to have arisen as a crude means of communication between the earliest explorers and traders as a means of overcoming countless language barriers. The demonym, Googlewooper was probably first used in this fashion to describe members of a different tribe and is comprised of two Googlish words, google roughly translated to 'trade' or 'wealth' and woop, a word used to express 'hapiness' or 'agreement'.It is theorised that as the tribal civilisation grew in size and complexity, the term slowly became used to identify the mainland settlers in general and that it was in widespread use around the time of the coastal migrations. Historical accounts from the time of the first monarchs describe the term first being used to describe a unified nation at the advent of the early empire.
