The Founderless Regions Alliance, commonly known by its initials FRA, is a parliamentary defender security alliance that rose to prominence in late 2006. Founded by Big Killer Babys, Northern Chittowa and The Merlion from North Pacific, Global Right Alliance and Jethnea respectively, it purports to be the longest running multiregional alliance in NS history (though old-school alliances such as The Triumvirate probably have it beat).

The FRA is dedicated to the protection and stabilization of founderless regions across NationStates, regardless of political leaning. The FRA is the largest defender alliance in NationStates, and its Rangers are regularly out protecting the sovereignty of founderless regions.

The History of the Founderless Regions Alliance.

Origins

During the summer of 2006, Big Killer Babys of North Pacific began to review the activities of the current ‘big two’, the Alliance Defence Network (later to become the Defence Security Alliance) and the Red Liberty Alliance. Following his studies, he concluded that the game needed a smaller alliance who would be able to not only defend founderless regions but to also help them rebuild following an invasion and make them capable of defending themselves. The best way to do this, he thought, was to begin talk with a few currently unaligned regions on the possibility to setting up a new multiregional alliance, one that was capable of not only defending itself and founderless regions but also being able to rebuild them once the threat had gone.

To do this he contacted Northern Chittowa of the Global Right Alliance (GRA). At the time, the GRA had a successful rebuilding programme in place called the Township Programme, which would help natives of a fallen region rebuild. Its major success at the time was The Brotherhood, whose population was close to 100 nations by the time it regained its independence. Upon the GRA’s acceptance to help, a conference was set up on the newly formed FRA forums to begin on 27th August 2006, to which important matters such as the organisation and the rough beginnings of the founding Charter were to be set out. Invited to these discussions were the region Jethnea, whose representative was The Merlion.

Following productive discussions, a few threads of which can be found in the ‘Further Reading’ Section, it was decided that the alliance would be parliamentary alliance whose goal would be not only to protect each other and the founderless regions of Nationstates, but to also rebuild said regions so that they can protect themselves. In this principle, the FRA has changed drastically, but it still provides direct help to regions wishing to refound or rebuild their communities following an invasion.

Upon completion of the conference, the FRA was officially founded on 28th August 2006 with the creation of the first FRA Charter, a copy of which can be found in the ‘Further Reading’ Section, which was ratified by Representatives from North Pacific, Global Right Alliance, Jethnea, the Reef and Peaceian.

The Charter of the Founderless Regions Alliance

Main Article -- FRA Charter

The Charter of the FRA was originally ratified on the 28th August 2006 by Representatives from North Pacific, Global Right Alliance, Jethnea, the Reef and Peaceian. Since that time the Charter has had many changes, although its spirit has remained the same throughout. Major changes in the past have been the entire reworking of the Charter during Falconias term as Arch Chancellor from April 1st 2009 - April 11th 2009 which involved the removal of such positions as the Foreign Affairs Minister and the Regional Recruitment Officer. This Charter later came to be known as the 'New' Charter. Other reworks that have happened throughout the years include the rewording of the 'Original' Charter during the reign of the first Arch Chancellor Big Killer Babys, and the reworking of the 'New' Charter during the reign of the 11th Arch Chancellor Northern Chittowa.
