[edit] Introduction:
TThe Dominion of Emperor Pudu is a unique state in the world today – both historically and presently. Spanning more than four-thousand years of history, the Dominion is a country of ancient culture and modern technology; a country of old monarchies and new ideas; the Dominion is a vast, storied land; a land of contradictions, and of mystery.
[edit] A History:
The land that today bears the Dominion has always been a crossroads; long fought over by many cultures, and throughout its history the territory has been under the control of nearly all of them.
Five-thousand years ago, tribes of Slavic-speaking people inhabited the northern hills and mountains of the Dominion. They were the first natives of the land and at that time, the whole of the large island on which the Dominion and several other nations now rest, was dominated by these people. It was a tribe of these peoples that settled for the first time on what they called the Groma River, where the first permanent settlement on the continent was established.
For hundreds of years, a second people, not native to the island, were known to have been migrating further inland from the southern shores, where they had established fishing and trading colonies hundreds of years prior. These people integrated themselves peacefully in the Dominion, with whose people they had traded furs and wood for years, and based on archeological discoveries, including graves and homesteads, intermarriages were common.
When the southern peoples moved far enough north to encounter what was by now a full-fledged city of thirty-thousand people, they renamed the river, calling it the River Xue. These people soon established their own sister-city on their River Xue, which can be dated to roughly 2450 BCE.
The Slavic peoples had lived for thousands of years as nomads, and even after the establishment of the first settlement, and those that followed, there was no unified government. However, in the year 2133 BCE, there was first recorded an occurrence of a southern King, known as Pudu I. This chronicle recorded Pudu’s unification of the coastal villages and cities of the southern people, and his formation of a Pudite Empire at the southern end of the continent.
The southern peoples were immediately in favor of unification, but from what can be determined, the Slavic peoples did not see the establishment of a foreign power on their ancient lands as a positive move. From this point on, there would be war between the Pudite Empire and the scattered Slavic peoples of the north and east.
In 2125 BCE, Pudite soldiers sacked the city on the Xue, and made the southern people’s city there his capital. At this point, the city was renamed Monglen. From here, Pudu I began the subjugation of the remainder of the Slavic peoples. However, he met opposition. A warlord had risen among the tribes, a powerful tribal leader had taken command of the remaining forces, and proposed to fight back against what were now seen as hostile invaders, despite centuries of peaceful contact. Viseslav is the only name recorded for this man, which is surprising, based on the trouble he caused the Pudite Empire to the south and west.
By 1919 BCE, the Pudite Empire controlled the entire coastline of the present-day Dominion, extending to the sharp peaks of what are today called the Stormwatch Mountains. To the east of the Dominion, there extends a vast expanse of steppe-lands, and it was to these that the Slavic peoples fled under Viseslav. Here, he established the second capital of his Kingdom, in Khot. From there, he completed the unification of the tribes, beneath the Khottish Empire.
For the next one-thousand years, a status quo was maintained, as the Khottish Empire and its soldiers could not penetrate the disciplined ranks of Pudite soldiers, and the Pudite soldiers could not conquer the great sprawling land of plains, steppes, and rivers that was the Khottish Empire. In the end, the Pudite Empire constructed a great wall to seal off their kingdom from the raiders. Construction on the five thousand mile-long wall was completed in the year 434 BCE, after literally hundreds of years of construction, and millions of deaths.
With the two nations forever sealed, and the Khottish finding the wall, when defended, was nearly impenetrable by the ill-organized and ill-equipped barbarians and steppe riders, both fell into a period of decline. The Khottish Empire, with no outward threat to unify it, and the thousand-year-old dream of reoccupying forgotten lands nearly lost, began to fracture. Dozens of successor kingdoms were established, but none could pose a similar threat as did the Khottish, ever again.
Meanwhile, inside the Pudite Empire, over a thousand years of direct family succession of Pudite Emperors, for that was the title they had taken by now, was wearing hard on the rest of the population. In the year 345 BCE, the Emperor Juaxian II died, and was left with no male heirs. Combined with the rising discontent in the peasant population and the fractured loyalty of the noble class, more than one claimant rose to power. Between 335 BCE and 122 BCE, there was a series of states rising to power within the territorial confines of the Pudite Dynasty, always in conflict. This is known as the Warring States period.
However, unlike their counterparts on the opposite side of the wall, the Pudite Empire found peace. In the year 122 BCE, the states of the former Empire were again united, beneath the rule of Huang Tangzhu, which began the Zhu Dynasty. However, upon taking the Imperial rule, he gave himself another title; Pudu. Much in the same way as the Roman men Caesar and Augustus became titles, so too did the name Pudu come to symbolize power. From 122 BCE onwards, all Emperors of the greater Pudite territories would be known as Emperor Pudu “…”.
The Zhu Dynasty ruled the Empire under a time of great technological and scientific advancement, and their rule saw the establishment of the Pudite Empire as a great civilization. The greatest cities, artwork, and thinkers came out of this period. Also, the territorial advancement of the Zhu Dynasty surpassed for the first time the largest reaches of the first Pudite Dynasty. The Zhu navy too, stretched the borders of understanding, reportedly making journeys as far away as the eight-thousand mile distant shores of northern Suudihya.
It was during the rule of the Zhu Dynasty, in 287 CE, that the third of the various cultures that made the Empire their home arrived on Pudite shores. These people called themselves Pergrinia where they landed inside the Empire. Their arrival found the Zhu Dynasty in full bloom, and they were greeted with great ceremony. For the next two centuries, their people came in greater and greater numbers, finding such a prosperous and peaceful country was a great boon to them.
The people that came, the Pergrinia, were of Mediterranean stock, and spoke a very strange tongue, foreign to all Pudite citizens. However, they were intelligent, and adapted quickly. Soon, their civilization was nearly fully assimilated into Pudite culture, and due to their predetermination to intelligence and organization, they quickly found positions of power.
Then, in 464 CE, the Zhu Emperor died in his sleep, poisoned by the Pergrini in his court. Even as his son, Zhu Yi Sheng, was preparing to be crowned Emperor Pudu Zhu Yi, the Pergrini noble Domitian had himself crowned Emperor Pudu Domitian. This was a time of two Emperors.
Quickly, the Pergrini mobilized behind their Emperor. The Pergrini lived largely in the mountainous northern region, which was dominated by the high glacial mountains and the many rivers that sliced deep gorges between them, therefore, the seat of Pergrini power was moved north, to the city of Hollarum. It was Domitian who established the now-preeminent Praetorian Guard, as personal soldiers and protectors of the Emperor.
In the south, a land dominated by jungles and open plains between them, Emperor Pudu Zhu Yi amassed his forces. Consisting largely light plains riders and massed spear infantry, he immediately marched on the Pergrini Emperor. He was met in a field at the northern end of his domain, and while the location has now long been lost, the events are not. The Disciplined ranks of Pergrini heavy infantry held before charge after charge from the untrained hordes from the south, and meanwhile, the Pergrini flanks were held firmly by their own cavalry - auxiliaries hired and coerced from local tribes. Although outnumbered, they held against the Zhu cavalry. It was a battle of attrition, known today as the Battle of a Million Broken Spears, and it shaped the next thousand years of Pudite history.
With a Pergrini victory over the Zhu armies, Emperor Pudu Domitian marched south, and sacked the ancient capital at Monglen, never to be rebuilt. Now the Pudite - the Pergrini - court would be held at Hollarum. Within a year of a second Emperor crowned, there began and ended a civil war, and a dynasty came crashing to an end.
The new, Pergrini, Dynasty extended the borders of the Pudite Empire, all the way across the southern coast of the continent, and the largest continuous land expanse ever under the control of the Pudite capital, which was now held at the city of Hollarum. The first Pudite colonies on the mainland were also established in 778 CE, but the natives there were many and fierce and barbaric. The colonies were quickly abandoned. However, the damage had been done. The natives now knew of the Pudite Empire and the lands beyond their own shores.
Only two years later, in 780 CE, the first of the barbarian longships crossed the Hidden Sea, and made landfall on the shores of the Pudite Empire under the Pergrini Dynasty. They came by the thousands, although at first, they were only interested in raiding and carrying their gains back to their own shores. However, in 799 CE, the first permanent settlement on the Pudite continent was made.
The Pudite armies could not stand against the barbarians, and as more and more crossed the seas, the Pudites were quickly forced back.
By 1303 CE, the invaders had forced the native Pudite Kingdom back to its original boundaries. For the first time in over a thousand years, the Great Wall was assailed in force, but it held, and the barbarians lost their momentum, and settled. This was an age of knightly combat and massed crossbow armies and pike formations, where many hundreds of small kingdoms existed beyond the Pudite wall, and alliances and wars shifted eternally.
In 1751, the barbarian armies began to turn from fighting each other, as a great leader rose among them. The Pudites had no knowledge of what his own people called this leader, Pudite records refer to him as “Niu Mo Wang”, or literally, “Bull demon-king.” Through force and subtlety, the tribes across the wall were eventually unified, and continued for hundreds of years to pose a unified threat to the Dominion.
By now, in 1751, the Pergrini Dynasty was more than twelve-hundred years old, and facing instability at home as well as abroad, as the pressures of the unified tribes under over the wall, and thousands of years of rivalries and oppression at home began to overflow. Rebels sacked Hollarum in 1756 and again in 1798, and in 1803 CE, the last Pergrini Emperor died, childless and in his sleep.
Quietly and peacefully, the dynasty that had come to power in a bloody civil war, ended in an old-man's bed. The next man to be crowned Emperor was the nephew of the old Emperor, Jilang Mo, an eighteen-year old governor. He would rule during the transition, and would mark the beginning of the final of the great dynasties; the Jilang Dynasty. For the next hundred and fifty years, the Jilang family led the Pudite Empire though the Industrial Revolution, and brought about a modern, Pudite, state.
In 1997 CE, a rebel group within the Jilang Dynasty detonated a small bomb in the capital city of Hollarum. This event was not isolated, however. For the past two decades, the Jilang ruling class had fallen into a pattern of violent oppression of the lower classes, often attempting to exercise extreme, if not foolish control over the society. Limiting the height of grass in the yard, or the clothes to be worn on certain days were common, and changed at the whim of an uncaring ruler. Taxes were imposed and repealed as the government needed more or fewer funds, and the military had virtual free reign over territories not expressly within the control of a Jilang city governor.
For these reasons, in 1999, the first real revolution to spread through the Empire in over a thousand years struck the Jilang family. Massive armies of democratically-minded, well-armed rebels rose up all across the countryside. With the lax gun-control laws and the massive corruption in the military and political chains of command, the response was slow and inefficient. Inside of six months, the military was under the control of the rebels, and many Jilang family members and diplomats had been executed. The exception was the last Jilang Emperor, Emperor Pudu XLII. He had taken the throne name Pudu itself, and was the forty-second to do so.
When the new democratic government took the capital, the Emperor was secreted out of the city by his personal guards - the Praetorian Guard - and took refuge in the wilds of his own country. Here, miraculously, he managed to rally a powerful force of Jilang military personnel and prisoners rescued from the many thousands of internment camps - many of whom his own government had placed there.
This force descended upon the capital, where the rebels had achieved nothing save the pacification of the city. As none of the rebels had any government experience, much less knowledge enough to establish a national democratic constitution or legislature, they were almost waiting to be deposed. Two weeks after the Emperor retook his capital, the whole of the nation was under his command again, but it was never to be the same.
Emperor Pudu XLII has reigned in the Dominion of Emperor Pudu, so named after the revolution, for the last eight years, during which time he has overseen the bloody subversion of the former kingdom of Niu Mo Wang, with whose people a state of war had existed for hundreds of years.
Now, with his home island secured, and a powerful fleet and established colonies across the globe, the forty-second Pudite Emperor seems to be on the verge of a new pinnacle of power and influence for the Pudite Empire. A new golden age is dawning.
[edit] An Overview:
The Dominion as it exists now is more rigid, more stable, and more controlled than it has ever been. The current government maintained the caste system put in place by the first Empire, with the Emperor on top, the Nobles below him, the Warriors below them, followed by the Artisans, then the Farmers, and finally, the Merchants, who are the least numerous of the castes, made up of only six-thousand diplomats and foreign affairs officers. These castes leave no room for succession, equality among levels, or freedom from that castes duty. Every Caste wears a different color of working clothes, with the Emperor wearing white, the Nobles in black, the Warriors in a dark green, the Artisans wearing pale yellow, the Farmers in brown, while the Merchant's wear grey.
The Emperor serves as the ruler, the head, and the final and only say in any matters of government, foreign and domestic. Nobodies authority can surpass, equal, or deny him. What he says goes. Below him is the bureaucracy required to run the large nation he does. He cannot obviously oversee every detail, and that is why the Noble caste exists. Their role will be explained further later. Below the Nobles are the Warriors, which are, in the Dominion, split into many groups. There are the Comitatenses, the normal foot soldiers of the Emperor, mostly unmodified, lightly armored, and although they are highly trained, they are the ‘grunts’ of any war. They crew the ships, fly the planes, and form up into massive combat divisions and charge the enemy lines. The second group is the Praetorian Guard, the elite 'super-soldiers' of the Emperor. They are genetically modified, heavily armored, and trained to an even fuller extent than their supporting units. They are the best of the best, and are one of the most powerful field units available to the Emperor. Below them are the Artisans, the specialists, the craftsmen. They perform all the skilled labor and direct the efforts of advanced production. Below them are the Farmers, the laborers. Very few of this caste actually farms anything anymore, but the name has been withheld. Anything nobody else does, they do. Below them are the Merchant Caste-men. They serve as the diplomats and foreign affairs officers of the Dominion.
These people inhabit seven-thousand compounds spread across the landscape of the Dominion, from the five Administration Compounds in the central forest region, to the many hundreds of Military Compounds along the western coastline, the Dominions only coast. Other Military Compounds are spread along the southern mountains, the northern dust plains, and the eastern wall. Located all though the rest of the central country-side were the last few thousand Civilian Compounds, populated by Farmers and Artisans who produce everything the Dominion needs, from bullets to pants, to chair legs, to Super Dreadnought armor plates. Every waterside compound houses a massive port complex, easily able to handle sixty-five tanker and dreadnought sized craft.
The people of these compounds do not live as a normal person might. They are not born as a normal person is, and they do not think like a normal person would. Every Pudite worker, soldier, and noble alike are born in large vats deep below the compounds they will live in, grown in smaller vats, and tended to by Artisan caste scientists. When they reach the age of fifteen they are considered ‘grown,’ and their growth hormones are shut down and they mature no further. Cell reproduction is slowed so that it may only grow to repair, not to expand, body mass. Then the workers begin the genetic modification process. This process for the Farmer and Artisan class is relatively simple, some vat grown high-strength muscle strands are inserted into the legs, arms, and back. The bones are re-enforced by high density plastics and metals, and that is it. They are then released to the workforce. The Noble caste does not receive modification, although the Warrior caste does, quite heavily in fact.
Once in the compound society, these new workers will inhabit their own, personal rest-pods. A coffin-sized capsule in which the citizen will sleep, receive their nutrient injections that will serve as their food, and then leave for their six-hour work schedule. They will do this all twice a day, for a total of twelve hour days of work, with twelve hours of sleep.
The compounds themselves are five kilometers square, a single steel-reinforced concrete structure with a large single tower rising over the otherwise perfectly plain, square building. In this tower the Commandant of that compound and his staff reside. Each of these compounds above ground levels stand only one story tall, with their Noble's tower rising a further two stories above that. These structures that are meant to be above ground are sometimes built into the hills and mountains that may fall within its five kilometers, and so not all of even this section are above ground. Regardless, the surface of the structure or the ground above it is all covered in a single five kilometer square solar panel which creates the power required to supply the Dominion’s war machine. Supplementing these panels are the massive wind-farms populating the five-kilometer clear gravel ‘killing field’ surrounding the compound. These towers are rigged purposely with explosives, to serve as a defense or to allow the field to be cleared easily. Below this lays the gigantic city-sized submerged element lays. Many levels of below-ground construction, stretching more than three kilometers down into the crust of the Earth.
These workers are not allowed thoughts of freedom, of disobedience, of revolution, or of change. The propaganda of the Dominion is intense, with hypnopaedia all throughout their sixty-year lives, as well as sever conditioning as a child to associate change and the outside as evil, and unceasing patriotic films and images spread throughout each compound. They are the perfect workforce. To ensure that the propaganda they are flooded with when they are young, the entire nation is monitored constantly by one-way screens.
To the observer they serve to display certain elements of propaganda, or sometimes act as a window, showing a video feed of the outside. On the other end, however, they are constantly monitored. Anyone showing even a remote interest in their own well being, through speaking, acting out of order, or acting on initiative, is removed immediately. This does not mean there is no dissent in the Dominion however. The vast, untamed, unoccupied land outside of the three-thousand compounds is home to a revolutionary movement of over ten-million dissenters. They are survivors of the second revolution and hermits who escaped the ‘cultural repair’ of the third revolution. They have been living in the deserted cities and towns of the old governments, and are fighting a constant battle against the current regime. These rebels are almost always under some sort of attack, be it a bombing campaign against a colony of them, or a company or two of infantry dispatched as “fire patrols,” almost no one ever returns from these ground missions, and they are the primary source of new weapons and ammunition for the insurgents, but they also serve to keep their numbers down, and so they continue. None of them can flee, as the massive national wall along every inch of land border stops that, and they have no aircraft or fleet, and so they are trapped, until such a time as they can be finally routed out and eliminated.

[edit] VK-1900432:
Following is the usual day in the life of a Farmer-caste worker in the Dominion.
The morning routine of VK-1900432
The pressure gauge's needle swung as far as it could to the right, the valves opened and a think, heavy white gas poured out of the simple gleaming white cylinder. Moment's later a pair of white clad legs swung out over the edge of the storage unit. VK-1900432 stood straight up next to his storage pod, white clothes hanging off his body with a slight dampness from the mist of the sleep unit. He had been in stasis for six hours now, and it was his work squad's turn in the bio-fields on the other side of the compound. He, and he other nine also in his work squad all stepped out to the left, sideways away from their pods. The pods which were now racing down towards the bottom of the underground stack where they were kept. Once clear all ten men fell-into perfect step, marching forward at the same instant. It was hard-wired into their brain, they knew no other routine.
As they turned the final corner in the bleached-white metal hallway, coming to the end of the four-mile trek from the pod-room to the bio-fields, the line came to a stop. Every person, for there was no gender, reached out with their white-sleeved left arm and grabbed their farming tools off the adjacent wall, without so much as turning their heads. After a second the line began its relentless march forward again, turning through the massive double-doors into the fields of the first sphere. Only seconds before VK-1900432's work squad arrived the preceding unit had departed through a set of large door exactly opposite the one used by our subject. They would deposit their soiled tools along the same racks they gathered them from, where another squad would arrive later to move them to cleaning facilities, along with all other tools positioned around this sphere.
VK-1900432 began its work in the first row, where it would fertilize, turn-over, and plant the earth for the next hour. Then its group would move to the next sphere, where they would again work for an hour, and move on as such. They would think of nothing but the work at hand, and nothing of that, but for what was hard-wired into their brain. Never would they think for themselves, try to solve problems, or wonder why it was that they did this. They were the perfect workforce, as long as they proceeded undisturbed.
After six hours of the steady farm work, they would return to their storage pods, where they would again, in perfect unison, climb back in, and be carried back down deep into the earth where they would sleep for the next six hours, and then begin their work over again, perhaps they would be repairing a section of roof-mounted solar panel, or replacing some broken machinery that could not be repaired by any other machines. They knew not, and would not wonder about such things. VK-1900432 was the perfect worker…

[edit] Economy:
First, it is important to note that the Dominion does not have an economy as many people would see it. The government only uses money to track their own wealth against other nations based on the production power and resource value that their nation has as compared to, and valued by, fellow nations. There is no market at all, no pay, no GDP per capita. No money is ever even printed anymore. The value against the universal standard dollar is tracked by computers interpreting the data as it would be if the Dominion had such a market and economy. Value is almost entirely based on USD prices for natural resources, and how much it would have cost to extract them, extrapolated from old prices.
Having said this, the Dominion’s international monetary value is very little, and they could be out purchased by many a smaller nation, but their production power and manufacturing capacity is extremely powerful. Procuring the few natural resources not seen inside the Dominion is the only limiting factor, and they must be either bargained for, which is easy, or purchased, which would put a massive strain on the Dominions weak international economy. Power of production is high, value of money is small. Currency only used in international deals and to track Dominion wealth. Simple.
[edit] Trade Routes:
Yearly frozen seaways cross the frigid ocean to the north and west of the Dominion, creating a situation in which trade with nations not on the same landmass with the Dominion itself very difficult in the winter months, of which there are eight. It is for this reason that the Dominion maintains both excellent relations with all those nations that border it, as well as a large fleet of massive air transporters and super-heavy icebreakers. Trade is difficult, and usually not done with any nation not either bordering or very near to the Dominion.
[edit] Climate and Geography:
The Dominion is a widely varied nation, stretching some thitry-four million square miles all throughout. This land encompasses thick tropical forests, vast barren wastes, frigid, nearly impenetrable mountains, and dense and dangerous swampland. A vast majority however, is indeed tropical forests and this is where some eighty-five percent of Pudite Compounds are located.
The forests are a majority dense jungle, with some more humid areas populated by larger swamp-rooted trees. These forests are to a large extent, pristine wilderness, as for all it’s existence the Dominion has regarded the environment well. Some areas are ruined by the crumbling wrecks of old Pudite cities, now inhabited by the few remaining rebels and plagued by near-constant bombing campaigns.
In the far north there exists, for some seven or eight hundred miles south of the wall in the north, a vast, desolate waste. Called the Grey Wastes, this desert is the result of a weather control experiment by the Emperor’s neighbor to the north, New Gothland. The experiment was designated “Shroud” and it involved the production of a large red-colored smog layer above his nation to protect from the sunlight, it succeeded, in that it blocked out sunlight, but it also, before most of it dissipated, affected large stretches of the northern Dominion forests, crippling them for ever. Now nothing grows there, nothing lives there, and indeed the only inhabitants would be the Pudite wall garrisons along that stretch of border.
In the south, there is a large chain of mountains, the largest in the nation that extends along most of the southern border. Once called the Dragon Peak Mountains, they are a natural wall, with temperatures regularly dropping to over one hundred and fifty below freezing on the Fahrenheit scale, they seem nearly impassable, especially in winter time when it gets even colder. The highest point here is the 9,066 meter high mountain designated M1990. It has never been scaled in recorded history, and remains the single coldest point, as well as the highest, on the entire continent.
Climate varies from fierce snowstorms in most northern and central areas, to massive downpours and hail storms rolling in off the Dragon Peak Mountains. Highest ever recorded temperature is one hundred and thirty four Fahrenheit, observed in the southern reaches of the Grey Wastes only three years ago.
[edit] Foreign Relations:
[edit] Foreign Possessions:
The colonialism of the Dominion can be easily divided into numerous "Phases" of expansion, classified by the style of occupation and annexation utilized. The First Phase of Expansion saw the invasion of Uruguay, as well as the First Pananabian War. During this phase, the population and old government were respected, and much was allowed to continue as it once did. A very conventional style. The Second Phase of Expansion was the fault of the extremely violent Second Pananabian War, where it began. It was continued through to the First Chitzeland War, where it was put to use to win the Battle of Accen. As the Second Chitzeland War began, the Dominion sought a newer strategy, to allow the continuation of industry and the raising of domestic armies for defense. This Phase is still underway, and is the longest phase yet undertaken.
The first overseas possession acquired by the Imperial Armed Forces was Pudite Uruguay. Following the defeat of an invasion by a socialist Brazil, the Pudite expeditionary forces laid claim to the nation as the chaos following the assault ran its course. The nation was the first colony, and was established as the standard an invasion should be measured by.
Shortly following the Uruguayan invasion was the war in Pananab. The nation was young, although born of an ancient culture, and harsh desert terrain was the Dominions first real extreme-environment training. This nation was liberated from anarchy and a pro-Dominion government established. Although a large-scale revolution threw the Dominion out for a short time, eventually the death of their leader, a civil war, and a stagnating economy invited the Dominion back inside Pananab, which they quietly occupied.
Between the relatively large-scale conflicts in Pananab and Chitzeland, the Dominion undertook a smaller venture, alongside a large allied force; a force accounting for only the third time in Pudite history the Emperor's neighbors came out in military support of the Emperor, and the first time it did not involve one of those neighbors being invaded. The unfortunate nations were United Borque and Annoyus Maximus, who captured and killed citizens of a nation friendly to the Dominion. Upon refusing to accept the blame for the murders, forces of that nation prepared to engage these two significantly smaller nations, and the Dominion and another ally of the offended nation dispatched their own fleets to assist in the capture. The Dominion fought a short and relatively efficient campaign to capture United Borque as a colony, whereas the United Tribes of the Eric and the Empire of New Gothland divided up the archipelago that was Annoyus Maximus.
After that was Pudite East Chitzeland, which has since become the Pudite-run puppet state of the Democratic Christian Socialist Republic of Chitzeland. Following a stabilizing invasion of a chaotic nation, the Dominion began successive wars of expansion, eventually laying claim to fully half of the peninsula of that name. This district was hard fought over, and only recently has war left the far western portions of the nation.
Following a short and brutal campaign against other imperial powers, the Dominion has added a large northern portion of Iceland and a small strip of eastern Greenland to their colonial empire. Naval and air bases were constructed there, to protect the patrol routes and fisheries of the Dominion in the area, but otherwise the northern colonies have served no large purpose in the strategic view of the Emperor.
A joint project undergone with the Leafistani Mafia was the rapid annexation of the Galation, a small island nation rich with oil and natural gas. Less than one-thousand troops represented the Dominion in the initial assault. Heavy shore bombardment and missile barrages cleared the way for the occupation of some large southern islands. A military outpost was established by the Praetorian Guard in the south, while the people of the outlaying islands and the north of the main islands were put to service.
A significantly less hostile occupation was that of the nation of Strangaild, where over five-hundred thousand Pudite troops moved in to annex it and protect it from foreign aggression. It has since been completely incorporated into the Pudite compound system and serves as a model for what is to come for those colonies not as far down the road as this small possession.
Following the action in Strangaild, the rapidly executed campaign in Barudii would seem to take the record for the fastest Pudite campaign executed in modern history. A pair of Pudite Ocean Patrol and Rapid Response fleets, with roughly nine-thousand ground troops, landed near to a large coastal city. Before control could be extended over the whole of the surrounding area, the Barudiian government offered full surrender to the Pudite commander in the field.
Occurring at nearly the same time as the Barudii annexation, a significantly larger campaign occurred in the small nation of Nechronia. Over two-million soldiers landed in various coastal cities, and moved inland. The government of the small nation collapsed under significant Pudite pressure and an inability to halt the rapid Pudite armored advances through the open countryside, and within months the whole of the nation was annexed to the Dominion.
The colonies taken following the war in Nechronia and Barudii bear little resemblance to those taken before, largely because of the meat hods used to take them. The Pudite colonies in the Kemeral and Orange Islands were both taken peacefully, as were the colonies of Sepvmdecim and Abundantia. Although some tension exists in some regions surrounding these outposts, the Dominion has as of yet refrained from coming to blows for the sake of these holdings.
The most recent additions to the Pudite Empire are the colonies that make up the former Empire of Gronde, namely, the now Pudite-occupied home island of Gronde, as well as outlaying smaller islands, and a sizable, though distant, island seized from the Unseen Master during the years of the Pudite-Grondian war.
Since the war the Dominion has further annexed the island of Suretra after purchasing it from a foreign government.
Soon after this came the invasion of the Sobeoni Peninsula, during which campaign the Dominion seized a number of small archipelagoes in the sea around the landmass, as well as securing the land surrounding the only canal cutting below the ice floes. Following the Sobeoni War the founding of the Anukai prompted the Pudite-Gothic-Skaven invasion of Fintlewoodle and Suudihya, the latter of which was annexed to the Dominion as the Pudite Mainland Prefecture.
Following most recently the annexation of the Pudite Mainland Prefecture there came the Pudite capture of the San Immanuel base compound and the soon-after Anukai invasion of Soulforge Cathedral. This first action is often overlooked in the months before the massive invasion of Soulforge, but it is also often considered the first battle of the Pudite Civil War, as the invasion was actually caused by the Praetorian annexation of the older Imperial Navy base in that area, on the now-completely Praetorian-controlled Galation Archipelago in the region.
Recently the Imperial Trade Corporation has facilitated the Imperial annexation of portions of Pin Ta, a small tropical island, as well as the vast swathes of the continent of Amrenia referred to now as Tumisium.
[edit] Military:
The military forces of the Dominion are divided into a number of completely independent branches, as well as a number of what may been considered by foreign standards to be paramilitary organizations. There are four main branches of the military; the Army, the Air Force, Navy, and the Praetorian. Although technically of equal political power, but with much fewer in numbers and physical strength, there are five supplementary branches of the military; the Scholae Palatinae, the Frumentarii, the Comitatenses Palatini, the Vigiles, and the Limitanei. These equate to the Emperor’s Guard, the Pudite Foreign Secret Services, a special field division commanded personally by the Emperor, a caste-wide militia, and the foreign armies drafted from the colonies, respectively.
[edit] Basic Overview:
The Imperial Armed Forces of the Dominion are nearly all organized along similar lines, with each branch’s ground and air forces organized in a similar manner. Naval forces, however, are grouped together according to each branch’s need, and their structure varies. The rank structures are not meant to interact, as each branch is designed to be able to support itself in any way needed. For example, the Naval forces of the Dominion maintain their own Naval Infantry and land-based naval bombers, while the Air Force has its own Airborne troops, as well as small fleets of their own to facilitate world-wide operation.
The ground forces of the army, naval infantry, air force, as well as the auxiliary forces are basically the same. They begin at the highest level with the army group, encompassing two-million soldiers. This is made up of four legions, each composed of approximately five-hundred thousand soldiers. Each legion is twenty-five divisions of twenty-thousand men. A division is four brigades, each of which is made up of five battalions of one-thousand soldiers. The battalions are made of five companies of two-hundred men, which are each made up of four platoons. A platoon is made up of four ten-man squads, a two-man sniper team, a lieutenant and his aide, a three-man heavy weapon crew, and three pathfinders, called speculatores. One platoon in each company is equipped with either an anti-tank missile launcher, an anti-aircraft missile launcher, a heavy mortar, or a heavy machine gun. Each squad has a marksman, a light machine gunner, and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher. The platoon is mounted in four eight-wheeled armored personnel carriers (tracked IFVs for armored troops), a truck, an LV08 tactical jeep, and an armored car.
For the armored vehicles, a platoon would be three main battle tanks, supplemented by a single infantry fighting vehicle and an armored car. Accompanying each company of armored vehicles is a platoon of mechanized infantry. A battalion of either armored or mechanized troops are accompanied by a squadron of self-propelled artillery. Blah blah blah finish later.
There is, however, a slight difference to that structure in the organizations of the Praetorians and the Comitatenses Palatini division. These groups are equipped with an advanced armor package, and this armor is designed to incorporate the weapons the soldier uses. However, these weapons are limited to a machine gun, and a guided missile launcher. Their platoon and squad structure are the same, although nine out of every ten soldiers in the squad is armed with a 14.5mm machine gun, while the final is armed with a thermal-guided missile launcher, capable or tracking and identifying airborne as well as ground-based targets. These soldiers, although slightly more limited, have far superior survivability capabilities, compared to the armor of all other ground troops. All Internal Security Forces also field this armor package, although they are rarely seen.

[edit] The Great Wall:
Spanning 9,243,010 kilometers, the massive wall that encircles the Dominion is fourteen feet think at its base, and tapers, by way of a slanted frontal face, to a thickness of eight feet at its top, twenty five feet above the ground. Small, two foot think rectangular ridges extend from the top to the bottom of the wall every five fee across the front, protruding an extra foot, serving to further break up the surface of the structure. There is one single guard compound every kilometer; each building is a three story steel reinforced concrete building, reaching heights of forty-five feet off the ground. The wall is one of steel-reinforced concrete, with nets of one-inch diameter rebar extending the length and breadth of the wall for every one foot of thickness. Before the wall is a seven foot deep, six foot wide steel lined pit, meant to catch vehicles prior impacting the wall. Fortified in steel reinforced concrete bunkers in a second low, four foot infantry wall behind the main structure are 155mm towed gun/howitzers and 280mm medium howitzers. Also supplementing the line are 128mm anti aircraft artillery guns, as well as air defense missile and 88mm gun systems.
There are only nine points of access into the nation, the nine small enclaves of Pudite force outside the wall. These small areas, two kilometers square, are surrounded behind by a dip inwards by the wall and in front by an electric chain link fence, guarded by two simple guard towers. In this small stretch of land there is a large airport, the only nine open to the international community, and a subway station. This subway network crisscrosses the entire nation, stopping at every compound and wall guard tower, ensuring a nearly untouchable network of mass transit. From here foreign dignitaries begin their long dark trip into the heart of the nation, and where they leave again, stepping out of the subway tunnel and for the first time since arrival, seeing daylight again. Nowhere in the Dominion are true windows, save for one set that serves behind the Emperor, that he may survey his domain...
[edit] Genetic Modifications:
Muscle Augmentation: Specially-grown muscle fibers are woven into existing muscle tissue, improving strength. Also woven in are more elastic muscle fibers, increasing tension and flexibility. Given to all official Imperial forces.
Damage Resistor: The sections of the brain that deal with physical and mental damage and pain reactions are bypassed, granting a cool head and calm operation even as limbs fall loose. Given to all official Imperial forces.
Bone Reinforcing: The bone structure of the subject is removed and replaced by either high-impact plastics or metals. This greatly improves his toughness, while also adding onto his weight. Given to Imperial Army, Praetorian, Ioviani, Cohortes Urbanae, Scholae Palatinae, and Comitatenses Palatini.
Iron Skin: Implants thin energy-diffusing material below skin to improve toughness and durability. Very expensive, given to Praetorian, Ioviani, Cohortes Urbanae, Scholae Palatinae, and Comitatenses Palatini personnel.
Immune Boosters: Enhances T, B, and white blood cells and improves response and power of response of an immunological response. Given to all official Imperial forces.
Improved Reflexes: Neural and adrenaline stimulators are added at important places in body to improve reflex time and improves rapid data processing. Very expensive, given to Imperial Air Force, Praetorian, Ioviani, Cohortes Urbanae, Scholae Palatinae, and Comitatenses Palatini personnel.
Augmented Sight: This operation allows the receiver to view his surroundings with sharper-than-normal vision, and even see low-light and near darkness conditions A sort of ‘zooming’ option is available as well, with magnification of up to 20x. After dark he can choose to view in the infrared spectrum. A relatively new technology, It appears to cause head trauma when remaining in infrared vision to long, and because pain responses have been bypassed the damage goes unnoticed. It is currently being worked around. Given to all official Imperial forces.
Ultrasound: Consisting of a small implanted transmitter, it constantly emits ultrasonic pulses, which return after bouncing off of nearby objects and form a kind of map of physical features of the area. Can be viewed by choice through a wireless link with the HUD of the soldier. Given to Frumentarii, to Praetorian, Scholae Palatinae, and Comitatenses Palatini personnel.
