Dissolution of the United Nations

The dissolution of the NationStates United Nations and the founding of the World Assembly in its place were directly linked and concurrent events that fundamentally altered both the state of international relations within the NationStates world, and the way that NationStates is played as a game. The string of surprising events began with an April Fools' prank announcing the UN's demise and ended with the scandalizing realization that the purported prank was not a prank at all. The passage of World Assembly Resolution #1 sealed it. The UN continues to be ceased and the WA endures to this day. While the RL United Nations took most of the criticism for bringing on the crisis with the threat of legal action against the NSUN, the game staff took a mild hit as well, for invalidating all past UN resolutions.
