"A big strong lad, who's good in the air." That was the standard defintion of Daymon Callind throughout his career. He never particularly shone in any tournaments bar the Oxen Cup, but was nonetheless a consistently high performer for his country.
Throughout his career he wore the Number Nine shirt; a typical bruising, barging, battering ram of a striker in the Centre Forward role. His performances in the 5th Di Bradini Cup and the 6th Oxen Cup - where he scored three goals in four games - that really put him on the international map, but it wasn't until AOCAF 23 that he really made his name. Though he was outclassed in terms of goalscoring by his club team-mate Lubii, it was their combined play which gave him three and her ten goals in their six matches. Scoring more than two goals per game between them during the tournament, Lex Panarii had no choice but to duplicate the winning formula at world level for World Cup 41. Daymon might not have made the starting eleven on his own, but with his club colleague there was no leaving him out.
The pair scored fourteen times in seventeen games through the campaign, with Daymon netting five times to Lubii's nine. Though he only scored once in the Finals, it was a crucial goal indeed that gave Starblaydia a 1-0 win over Qazox in the Quarter-Finals. They would go on to win their third world title in that Cup and the Iskara Daii partnership were crowned kings of the world.
World Cup 42 saw Starblaydia switch to a 4-5-1 formation, as it was thought that Callind and Diamontii Di Bradini were not able to play together, combined with the fact that PAnarii wanted both captain Batou Nakamura and Chen Myung-Bo to play together in the middle of the park, replicating their relative successes in the Oriental Football Cup. Thankfully for Daymon, he was Plan B in the campaign, and whenever Starblaydia were in trouble, he was the man they called upon. He made thirteen apearances in the sixteen matches, both Qualifiers and Finals, scoring seven goals along the way. He bagged two against Lovisa in the group stage and gave Starblaydia hope in the Second Round with a goal against Candelaria And Marquez, but Starblaydia lost the match 2-1.
In AOCAF 24 he and Diamontii Di Bradini proved they could play together as Starblaydia made it to the Final, scoring twenty-eight goals in their eleven matches - five of which were Damon's. However they couldn't overturn age-old rivals Lamoni in the Final, losing 2-1. World Cup 43 came around and it was back to the 4-4-2 'Diamond' for Starblaydia, with Daymon partnering Diamontii up front. He was a crucial component up front, particularly when the Finals' Group H had to be decided through a play-off between Starblaydia and Jeru FC, who had both finished on four points with a three-scored/three-conceded goal difference. He scored a brace in the special match as Starblaydia won 3-1 to progress to the Knockouts. Starblaydia were knocked out of the Quarter-Finals, and the thirty year-old Callind would not play again for his country, finishing his international career in eighth position on the all-time goalscorers list for Starblaydia.
