Cruzada de O Império Glorious (English: Crusade of the Glorious Empire), also known as the Second DU War, was a major military conflict spanning almost the entire Democratic Union that was fought in the early summer of 2006. In Spooty, the conflict is known as the First DU War, as the nation was not a part of the First DU War.

Buildup
Following the First DU War the International League for Liberation had interest in maintaining the mandate it held over The Glorious Empire, specifically in ensuring that a growing threat of radical Satanism did not manage to infiltrate the higher echelons of Government, this objective was held in the ILL mandates over the nation but strictures imposed upon The Empire by the RUN did not prevent the rise of the Satanist Government that quickly militarised and over-ran the surprised and poorly defended mandate regions.
Meanwhile in Spooty the tensions between Solists and Floydists had been flaring over the hot summer months, analagous of the conflict growing between the two religions across the region. During the 2006 Spootopolis clashes, whilst the wholly symbollic Military dealt with rioters, a Coup was launched against the legal government establishing fellow Satanist Morningstar as Dictator over the nation, bringing Spooty into the Axis Powers of the DU and shifting the balance of power in the region.
Buildup and tensions to warfare culminated in the Palixia led invasion of The Glorious Empire, official Casus-Beli stated that the actions of New Satanic Regime of the Glorious Empire against Floydists where "Cause for War". Such actions included the massacre of the budding Floydist population and the confiscation of their lands by Glorian officals. Modern historians have analysed this decleration speculating that Palixia and other members of the ILL either wanted to remove the threat of the Satanic Glorious Empire pre-emptively, or somewhat less respectably reassert their control over the Glorious Empire. Other theories put forward by the Solist religion suggest that the conflict was a means to expand the Floydian hegemony already dominant over the region.
Operation Fletcher
On June 8th the Palixian Legislative Government passed into effect the declaration of war against the Glorious Empire, stating in its brief to "Depose the Satanic Government of the Glorious Empire, reclaim lands lost to the Satanists, and secure the safety of the Holy Church of Floyd" it also cited that "Actions taken against the Glorius Empire must be encouraged amongst the member states of the International League for Liberation". League responses were affirmative towards the declaration, Phillan Foreign Minister ... remarking "There has been no clear action on the behalf of the Glorian peoples to suggest a change of attitudes."
The Glorious Empire responded to the threats made against it by mobilising its legendary military forces to defend the wastelands. Palixian tactics upon arrival of its strikeforce were to disrupt and confuse the large Glorian deployment hoping to complete their objectives swiftly and with minimal loss of life to both sides.
Operation Nephilim Front
Morningstar had been given enough time between his rise to power and the decleration of war that a large force of well trained soldiers were ready for deployment, upon hearing of Operation Fletcher this force was put into mobilisation. Spootian Warships were largely outdated, poorly maintained and prone to reliability issues, these technical restrictions prevented a range options to the Spootians but allowed for a decisive tactic aimed at openeing a second frontier against the Palixian homeland, preventing the Satanists from taking further losses.
Anticipating the actions of Morningstar the ILL convinced the neighbouring nation of Eyygui into establishing a quick blockade of the Island nation that prevented the planned invasion of Palixia and resulted in a stalemate. Spooty was not eager to suffer catestrophic losses by forcing its way through the Blockade and began to concentrate its forces on defending the mainland, constructing secure bunkers and clouding the beaches with landmines.
Upon hearing of the attack upon his ally, Morningstar of Spooty mobilised a few kabals of his famed Nephilim warriors. Unfortunately, there had not been enough time to rebuild the naval forces of Spooty and so he was forced to mobilise horribly damaged steamships. Eyygui, a neighbouring nation to Spooty, then got involved by blockading all ports out of Spooty. The Nephilim were trapped and now had to defend the island against Eyygui.
Nephilim elites swam out to laser target the enemy navy in the hope that they could open up a large enough hole to move out of. In response, Eyygui sent out 100 Bombers and 100 Dogfighters, knowing full well that the THEL system was currently inoperational and that Nephilim air forces were practically non-existent. It was at this point that Chuck Norrisville sent air forces to aid Eyygui.
Things only got worse for the Nephilim as Philanchez, one of the strongest powers of in DU got involved, sending along his fleet. At this point Morningstar was finding it hard to defend, so he ordered the laying of mines and tank traps. Word got back to the Nephilim generals that 75 enemy ships had sunk and 25 were under heavy fire, out of 300 this was a great boon.
In what came as a shock, Abascalania, an ILL ally, entered the conflict and invaded CN. The Nephilim chose not to stop this and simply brushed it off as an irrelevant event.
Operation Hellfire
In light of Operation Fletcher, Glorian High Command ordered all front line Units to begin constructing defenses, using the natural smoke of the Ashlands as protective cover. High Command also issued an order stating that a Near constant artillery barrage was to take place along the Palixan Beachead, and Glorian Troops where to conduct raids, testing the Palixian defenses for weaknesses.
A surprise decision from the normally apathetic Tetris L-Shaped Block meant that a small force of untrained guerillas came to the TLSB quarter of the TGFR Mandate. Using the Ashlands as cover the Palixians launched a vicious counterstrike, sending bombers into New Rome and forces along the Ashlands to shoot at anyone they could see. This offensive, down the Tevintia Peninsula let to the Capture or Novus Roma the Ancient Capital of the Empire.
The Glorians then consolidated for another counter offensive. Glorian Troops began amassing along the TGFR borders, and to the North of the Tevintia Peninsula. The highest ranking officials moved to New Babylon and slowly more forces made it to the front in preparation for the final conflict. The Glorian Airforce was ordered to begin a ruthless bombing campaign destroying any structures that might be used by the Palixian Invaders. with the fall of Novus Roma, Palixian Commanders believed that Glorians would begin to lose moral, however enraged Glorian Citizens, fueled by Satanic Propaganda flocked to Recruiting stations, and those in occupied areas began a quiet resistance against the Palixians.
Operation Guerilla
Philanchez was the first to land, making advancements upwards onto the coast while taking moderate damage from the mines and tank traps. Eyygui landed second making a quick beachhead. The theatre of combat was then split between three areas: East, West and South. Morningstar decided it would be best to fall back to the cities and urbanised areas, believing the enemy forces would not dare destroy towns belonging to civilians.
The attacking forces figured the best and in their overconfidence simply forgot about the mines. A general was lost along with the following recorded casualties: 9,000 Soldiers, 12 Transports, 31 Dogfighters, 19 Bombers, 13 Tanks and 75 Ships.
Operation Hellfire, Continued
A few weeks after the begining of the Glorian Counterstrike, neighbouring Hutten joined the war against the Empire. Palixian forces, having finally secured their beachhead, moved north onwards into the Empire. Current losses stood at 8,000 men, 160 planes and 13 tanks.
However, Just as the Palixians began moving northward a massive Glorian counter-offensive was launched. Completely overwhelemd and unprepared, Palixian forces retreated back to the Beachead. In addition to the Strike on the beachead, the Counterstrike included the invasion of the TGFR. Both of the Glorious Federal Republic territories where overrun in a matter of days, forcing Palixian troops to Flee southward, and Tetroidan guerrillas to begin operation.
In conjuction with the strikes on the TGFR and Palixian forces moving northward, a Large Glorian Naval Strike force arrived behind the Palixian Beachhead. In what Historians would later call "a blunder that doomed the Palixian excursion into the Empire" Palixia had ordered its naval forces back to its homeland shortly after the invasion began, leaving only minimal naval defenses. The large Glorian Naval force overwhelmed the naval defenders, and shortly afterward, began a massive naval bombardment of the Palixian beachead. This bombardment coincided with an attack by the Glorian Land forces, who began employing barbaric and brutal psychological tactics. Including the Brodcast of captured Palixian soliders being tortured, and having the decapitated heads fired at the beachead.
The Empire's northern neigherbor,Brezec also joined the war, under tremendous pressure from the ILL. ILL High command believed that opening another front to the north would severely weaken the Glorians ability to counterattack on the almost overrun beachhead. Brezec mobilizied 3 million troops, 2500 tanks, and 100 aircraft, (nearly the whole of its Military) and ordered a poorly prepared strike into the Heart of the Empire.
The later famous Brezecian Invasion began, and after several hours of no enemy encounters, the Brezecians found themselves surrounded by the Glorian Army. After a short Battle, the Brezecian military was completely destroyed with minimal Glorian losses. The Glorian counterstrike force, then marched northward into Brezec. The poorly trained and equiped Brezecian forces found themselves being overrun by the Battle hardened Glorian forces. This prompted Chuck Norrisville to send aid to help the overburdened Brezecian forces. The timely arrival of the CN troops only slowed the advance of the Glorians, preventing them from seizing the entire coastline of Brezec. While Huttenese forces remained behind, strangely not attacked by the advancing Glorians.
Operation Burning Rome
Operation Burning Rome, had been being prepared almost immedately after Glorian Forces where forced to retreat from their ancient capital. Emperor Razvan Katad, demanded that the city be reclaimed and the Palixians be driven out of the Empire by the end of that year, thus Glorian commander's worked tirelessly to prepare the counter attack. It was decided, that the offensive would take place on the 3 fronts which the Empire now fought, The Tevintia Front, the Palixian Beachhead, and the Brezecian Front.
The Tevintia Peninsula
The main goal of this Force of 7 Million men, 7000 Tanks, and 250 Aircraft was to retake Novus Roma, and Expel the Palixian Presence in the Peninsula. Glorian troops had begun amassing along the front for several weeks, before even the second stage of Operation hellfire was launched. The Tevintia front had little ground fighting, occasional Glorian or Palixian raids occurred, however the majority of Palixian High Command's attention was directed at somehow finding a way to relieve their beleaguered forces along the Beachhead.
When Operation Burning Rome was launched, Glorian forces poured across the Palxian front line in the Peninsula. Glorian troops fought with such ferocity that the Palixian forces where forced to retreat deeper into the Peninsula. every day the Palixians found themselves being pushed back farther, until first New Rome was recaptured by the Empire, and finally Palixian forces found themselves pressed against the sea, where they where brutally massacred by the advancing Glorian troops.
The Liberation of Novus Roma was a major propaganda boost for the Empire. Glorian Forces had successfully crushed the Floydian Crusaders who attacked their capital, and now it seemed that they would finally, at long last, wipe out the Floydian menace once and for all.
The Palixian Beachhead
The Shores where the Palixians had landed had seen some of the heaviest, and most brutal fighting of the century. Palixian forces along the beachhead, found themselves cut off from any form of supply by the massive naval task force, and where under near constant attack from both the sea and the land. Palixian casualties skyrocketed, however the Palixians where determined not to lose their foothold in the Empire. They had received one set of orders, which they intended to follow to the letter "Hold the line, until we can find a way to send you reinforcements"
Operation Burning Rome, was designed to completely destroy the Palixian beachhead. Glorian forces attacked at points deemed to be the weakest points of the Palixian line. Glorian forces attacked with such ferocity and barbarity that they broke through the line, and forced the Palixians to retreat further back to the coast. Within a weak, the majority of the Beachhead was reclaimed by the Empire, however, Palixian forces held to what areas they still controlled with near fanatical determination. It would take several weeks to completely break the Palixian beachhead, and even then, some remnant Palixian forces remained active in the Empire.
The Fall of the Beachhead, dealt a horrible blow to Palixian high command, who now deemed that any sort of invasion of the Empire would be impossible under the current Circumstances. Palixian High command ordered their forces, in the Palixian Colony (located not far to the east from the Empire) to begin preparing for an invasion by the Empire.
Brezec
The Glorian Invasion of Brezec had become a sort of vacation for the battle hardened and tired Glorian Forces. Combat in Brezec was considered easy, the small Glorian force had managed to occupy almost all of the country's coastine, and it took a combined Brezecian, Chucknorrisvillian, and Huttnese force to prevent the Glorians from taking total control of the country. Glorian troops began enjoying the country's famous beaches relaxing and taking a break from the Hellish Combat found on the many other fronts the Empire found itself at war in.
After receiving their new orders to participate in Operation Burning Rome, Glorian forces attacked what remained of the Brezecian Coast, preventing them from receiving any further international reinforcements. The offensive, left all but a small portion of coast under the control of the Empire, CN and Brezican troops found themselves desperately clinging onto the one major port city they still controlled, knowing without it, they would lose supplies and any chance of Reinforcements from the ILL, who was now scrambling to send troops to prevent Brezec from being overrun.
Hutten's Betrayal
Hutten, who thus far had remained inactive in the war, suddenly issued an order for all of its forces to retreat from Brezec to ostensibly "Protect their homeland from a possible Glorian invasion". However, unknown to the Allied forces in Brezec, Hutten had been in secret negotiations with the Empire for weeks before the Glorian offensive. Believing that a Glorian victory was immeninet due to the crushing defeats ILL forces had suffered recently, Hutten sought to curry favor with the Empire, by placing landmines behind the Brezecians and Chuckrnorrisvillian Troops. As the Allied forces in Brezec where pushed back, they retreated into the minefields, causing massive casualties. Hutten soon then declared its alliance with the Empire, and shortly afterward, Chucknorrisville, whos forces had nearly been completely destroyed, issued an order to retreat caused by Hutten's betrayal. Brezec, now alone defending against the Glorian army with a severely damaged Military begged the ILL for some form of aid, however, because the war in Spooty was taking much longer then originally anticipated, the ILL could not supply any immeadate help.
Seizing on this opportunity, the Glorious Empire launched a massive offensive against Prague, Brezec's capital city. The city was nearly leveled by Glorian Bombers, while powerplants, and hosptials where giving priority for bombings. Prague decended into anarchy as the Glorians advanced, and slowly, as the Glorians arrived at the city center of Prague (4 Blocks away from the Capital Building of Brezec) Brezec issued a communique that announced its unconditional surrender.
Eyyguian Evacuation
The Brezecian people began leaving in droves, fearing a Glorian occupation, memories of the highly publicized Glorian occupation of Murky Moray caused widespread panic accros the country. Brezec pleaded with the international community to provide escape from Empire and Eyygui agreed to help, however the majority of its forces where fighting in Spooty.
The Glorious Empire, not wanting to go through the trouble of assimilating an entire population while in the middle of a massive war, decided to strike a deal with Eyygui. All but 1% of the Brezecians would be allowed to leave their country in Eyyguian transports. However, the remaining 1% were to be handpicked by The Glorious Empire's officers and transferred to the frontlines to fight for the Imperial military.
The agreement pleased neither side fully, but both agreed in the end. The relocated Brezecians were given land in Eyygui to live in until a time when they could be returned to their nation. The rest were placed on Glorian trains and where indoctrinated by Glorian Propaganda Officals. Most submitted to Glorian propaganda and became fanatical Satanists. While Brezecians who did not submit where forced into cannon fodder battalions, while the indoctrinated Units continued to battle ILL forces even after the official end of the war.
Spootish Surrender
After Years of Hard Fighting, The Forces of Morningstar surrendered to the Abacalanian, Eyyguian, and Phianchian Forces. However it was speculated that Morningstar himself fled Spooty long before the Collapse of The Nepilhim forces. It has been romoured that he has been hiding in the Glorious Empire, under the protection of The Glorious Empire's Army. Despite this Abascalania, and Eyygui allowed there draftees to return home, causing the armed forces of the two nations to be weakened
After this Surrender the former Spootish military of the Ringleader Guard were reinstated and as much military equipment from before the Morningstar uprising was salvaged, this included the Naval forces, Air forces and the Schmiel weaponary, the Ringleader Guard were quickly sent off to perform duties in Palixia.
Attack on Palixian Colonies
With the Spootish surrender, The Glorious Empire appeared to be left alone against the invading forces. However Glorian diplomats where quite adept at using their recent victories over the ILL in Brezec and their homeland to their advantage. Ebon-Excelsior, betrayed his allies and launched an attack on the Palixian colony north of their nation. The Glorious Empire soon landed troops in Ebon-Exelcior to aid in conquering the colony and removing any Palixian presence on the continent. Palixian forces where well defended and well prepared for an attack, Glorian forces where able to make some advances, however Palxians where able to make equal advances against the Ebon-Excelciorians.
Roughly a week later, Murky Moray allowed The Glorious Empire to send troops across their nation to attack the colony from the West. Glorian troops attacked the heavily fortified area with some success, however the gains where minor. The Palixian defenders were being reinforced by Eyyguian and Abacalanian troops, along with volunteers from Socialist Freemen. The Eyyguian and Abascalanian forces had a technological and experience advantage over Ebon-Excelsior's forces, however found themselves unable to fight against the Glorians. This resulted in Eyyguian, Abascalanian, and SFian forces to be deployed against EE, while the Palixian's battled the Glorians. Fighting was fierce, and the Glorian-Led forces managed to gain control of the south of the colony.
However in the west, the Glorians did not fare as well, the Palixian's had been expecting an attack on this area, and thus it was heavily fortified. Glorian troops made minor gains, however they where far to disproportional to the losses suffered gaining them, so Glorian High command ordered that Glorian Troops in the west simply hold their positions until they received further instruction.
The Tide Turns
Several months into the battle for the Palixian Colonies, Glorian forces found themselves being forced to regain territory lost by the EEians, who had difficulty fighting the far more experienced Eyyguian and Abascalanian troops. As more and More Glorian troops found themselves committed to fighting in the Palixian colonies, Glorian intelligence services had received information, that Philanchez was preparing to send a massive force to reinforce the Palixian Colonies. Glorian High Command decided that allowing the Philanchians to strike at the colonies would result in the defeat of the Glorian forces there, and thus resolved to launch a preemptive invasion of Philanchez.
Operation Old Hatreds
Glorian High command ordered the invasion of Philanchez to begin as soon as possible. Because of this, Glorian forces where not completely prepared for the invasion. The invasion began only a week after Glorian intelligence reveled that Philanchez would be entering the war, and at first it seemed that the Glorians would succeed in their attack.
Yet as soon as news of the Glorian Invasion of Philanchez reached the ILL, the nations of the ILL began marshaling forces to support Phinachian forces. Eyyguian, Abascalanian, Palixian, and even Chucknorissvillian forces arrived in Philanchez and rushed toward the front line, where Glorian and Philanchian forces had reached a stalemate. Glorian forces became incresingly desperate to reach their objectives, and somehow find a way to break the stalemate, hoping to at least push the Philanchians back so that more Glorian Reinforcements can arrive, and continue the attack. The Glorian Commander of the invasion, decided that a massive tank assault, to be preceeded by Napalm stikes would be sufficent to drive the Philanchians back. However, the Tank assault was launched before the Napalm strikes, resulting in the near complete destruction of the Glorian attack force.
The Glorian commander was promptly executed for his faliure, and a new commander was placed in command of the Philanchian front. Glorian forces simply began to dig in, and await for any kind of Reinforcements from the Empire. Meanwhile, Glorian Diplomats managed to convince Chucknorrisville that attacking the ILL forces (chiefly comprised of CN's rivals) would allow Chucknorrisville to become a major Regional Power after the war ended. CN attacked the ILL forces, with little success, however this slowed the arrival of ILL aid to the Front against the Empire.
The Ebon-Excelsior Rebellion
The Government of Ebon-Excelsior had become increasingly unpopular. EE was a predominatly Christain country, who had entered into an alliance with the Premier Satanic Power. The news from the front was also causing unrest, EE troops where fighting and dying against the ILL, and it seemed that soon, the ILL would be forced to launch an invasion of the country. The offical cause of the Rebellion, was the Empire forcing the EE government to enact several of its policies, mainly the persecution of all non-Satanic peoples, and the establishment of Satanism as the offical religion of EE.
The Rebellion began as a popular uprising, Millions of EEians upset about the war simply began rioting across the country. EE military personnel abdandoned their posts (for the most part, several units under direct Glorian control returned home to help crush the uprising), and soon enough the government was deposed, its leaders killed during the Riots. The Empire, knowing that EE was vital to its supply lines for both the Palixian colonies and Philanchez, promply invaded the country with the forces that where to be sent to the Philanchian front.
The Invasion was quick, lasting only 2 weeks. Glorian troops attacked hospitals, power plants, and other buildings and institutions vital for survival. Ground troops assaulted the cities, and quickly managed to restore order simply by massacring whoever appeared before them. Glorian Air units leveled cities, killing millions of people. Glorian forces where now forced to occupy EE, and as a result, Glorian forces along the Philanchian front, where unable to receive reinforcements. A year after the start of the Rebellion, Glorian Troops retreated from Philanchez completely into EE, where they continued their fighting retreat. EE would remain under Glorian Occupation for the rest of the war. At wars end, 50 Million EEians, (more then 50% of the country) had been killed.
Murky Morian-Glorian Skirmishes
Murkey Mory, who had remained neutral in the war though Glorian Friendly, also underwent a revolt. Morian fears that either the Empire or the ILL would invade the country (The country was located between the Empire and the advancing ILL forces) had reached their height, and a decision was made by several military officers to remove the current government. Several weeks after the EE rebellion began, the offers launched their coup, removing the Glorian-Friendly Government from power. The Empire not wanting to lose a second set of supply lines also launched a small invasion of MM, however the Murky Morian military proved to be too strong for the Empire, who's resources where dedicated to fighting the ILL. A series of border skirmishes took place, and soon enough a status quo ante bellum peace agreement was signed.
The Fall of the Glorious Empire
Peace was netogiated after many steps, both sides realzing, that continuation of the war would result destruction and death that had never been seen before. The ILL had fears that an invasion of the Heartland of the Empire, would rally the Glorians behind Emperor Katad(who had slowly been losing support since the recent military failures in the east). However the ILL could not allow the Empire to continue with its occupation of EE, and could not allow Katad to Remain in Power. knowing that the continuation of his rule would result in an even larger war.
Luckily for the ILL, a conspiracy had formed within the Empire, one to depose the Emperor and bring about peace. Several highly important members of the Empire, had managed to bribe the commander of the Praetorian Guard, and used the guard to depose the Emperor. During a war meeting, Katad was arrested by the Guard and was to be turned over to the ILL for trial. a Provisional Government Established the Glorian Federation, and offered the ILL an immediate surrender. While the militaries and hardliners on both sides where extremely unhappy with this outcome, both sides agreed to preserve peace in each of their homelands.
Katad was to be flown to Philanchez to stand trial for Crimes against humanity, War crimes, and a plethora of other charges, however while the plane was in flight, it crashed over the sea, seemingly killing everyone on board.
Post War DU
As the dust settled, the countires who took part in the war slowly began to rebuild. the Palixian King died shortly after the war ended, Philanchez began reconstruction of its southern Territories, and Ebon-Excelsior, who had lost just over half of its population, began the long process of rebuilding itself.
Spooty returned to its Pre-Morningstar State, and begun repairing its war torn land. The Glorious Empire underwent a series of Radical changes. The Federation ceded the territories of the TGFR, as well as Brezec back to their former governments. The TGFR however collapsed, instead becoming two smaller states, one a successor to the TGFR (The Tetris Mandate) and the other a homeland for all Floydians who had been displaced thought the war (Palixian). The Glorian Federation was very unstable, several radical parties took power within 3 years, leading to contradictory polices, and general unhappiness amongst the population. 6 Years after the War, Katad Resurfaced, claiming to have used the conspiracy to end the war, and root out the traitors to the Empire. After a brief election, Katad was reappointed to his old position of power, causing great unrest amongst the nations of the DU. He would later be assassinated at a Peace conference in Eyygui 2 years after his return to power.
